Seafood
The primary electives outlined in this qualification provides the seafood industry processing sector with people who are able to work as operators carrying out routine operations safely and mindful of self and others.
This qualification is suitable for people who wish to work or are currently working in the seafood industry. The training undertaken will provide formal recognition for the skills associated with the course.
Graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision safely with responsibility for their own work outcomes.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Comply with the HSWA 2015 and identify hazards in the workplace.
- Demonstrate knowledge of food processing and seafood industry hygiene and safety.
- Packing, labelling, and related work.
- Demonstrate care, use, maintenance, and storage of knives and other equipment.
- Handle chemicals and describe requirements for safely using them.
- Assess quality for seafood product.
